We correctly guessed six of the winners for the second round of the Telstra 2020 NRL Premiership competition.
Using our hindsight, we question why we took Souths to beat Brisbane, as the Broncos posted a narrow win of 22 – 18.
Sydney also tripped us, as it appears that the Roosters might be having premiership hangover and have lost their first two games of the new season.
The six games we guessed correctly brought in $953 in dividends. Subtracting bookie margins at five percent leaves a net of $933. Subtracting our two misses, two $100 losses, leaves $733 for the round.
While the AFL has suspended play in light of the current virus crisis, the NRL is doing its utmost to carry on.
Round 3 is next and here are our guesses for the head-to-head market for all eight NRL fixtures. We stake $100 per fixture in imaginary money and we hasten to mention that no one should punt based on our guesses.
It is several days until Canberra meet St. George at GIO Stadium and we see no reason to back other than the Raiders for $133.
Manly are playing New Zealand at Lottoland. Obviously, we will back Manly for $125.
The game of the week is the derby between Souths and Sydney. Sydney are heavy favourites, despite having lost their first two. We are picking the Bunnies to breed the upset for $235.
Our intuition suggests picking Cronulla to beat Newcastle, but we hope to get one more gift from the Knights by backing them for a possible $215.
Melbourne will play Penrith at AAMI. We select the Storm and hope to collect $145.
North Queensland will host Parramatta in picturesque Townsville. Parramatta hold the top rung at the moment and we have already tipped two upsets, so we have to select the Eels for $180.
We will take Wests for $160 over Canterbury.
Finally, the Broncos are an easy choice to beat Gold Coast at Cbus Super Stadium. We hope to get that one right for $141.
